Shahi-Nahr, Mazar-i-Sharif. Photographer: Harvey-Kelly, Charles Hamilton Grant Hulme
- Scope & Content:
-
Genre: Architectural Photography
View showing a horse cart (being washed?) in the river, with a bridge on the left. 'The Balkh-Ab (Rud-i-Band Amir, or Rud-i-Band-i-Babar) which enters the Turkistan plain through the Tang-i-Shafa, is divided into 18 canals (Hazhdah-Nahr) and never reaches the Oxus. The Shahi Nahr, one of these, flows through the town of Mazar. The cart is the usual type used (sometimes with two horses) throughout Turkistan.'
