Scope & Content:

Collection of 138 loose, uncaptioned snapshots. Many, if not all, relate to the 1924 Everest Expedition and show views of mountain scenery, Tibetan landscape, camps, pack animals, porters and portraits of climbers. One group portrait can be seen in enlarged form (with identifications) at Photo 10/17 (2). The photographs are uncredited, but may well be by Bentley Beetham, a member of the 1924 expedition. One of the prints in this collection appears to be the same as the view of base camp reproduced in Francis Younghusband's Everest: The Challenge (London: 1936), facing page 22 and there credited to Beetham. The other photographs are probably by the same hand.
