Flowering branch of an unidentified red flower plant belonging to the Annonaceae family. Dark brown, nodose and branching twig, with terminal clusters of elliptic, green leaves; leaf blade with reddish pinnate veins, entire margins. Two bloomed flowers are depicted, one frontally on the left, one laterally on the right, and one globular bud is depicted on the lower right twig, showing yellowish sepals and pale pink bud. The flowers are of wide, round shape, with six ovate, deep red petals. The frontally depicted flower shows a large, round yellow receptacle with orange dots, and an internal smaller purple circle of styles with darker purple dots. Lower left: depiction of a dissected flower, with three green exterior and greyish interior coloured sepals, four white with orange ends thick stamens, next to two white with purple ends. The flower receptacle is depicted semi-dissected, showing orange stamens densely arranged in a thick circle around some purple styles, which are shown at their full length through an opening in the stamens; further on the right six individual flower petals.
Any further details: Annona sp. is not native to East Asia; the plant depicted in this painting could be Uvaria sp.
