Averrhoa carambola L.; Oxalidaceae family

Flowering branch of a star fruit plant. One thick, woody brown with greyish and reddish marks branch, with several bi-pinnate compound leaves on long, slender pedicels. Branch surface appears rough. Leaf blade green, elliptic with entire margins, and golden alternate veins. At mid-height of the branch, one orange-reddish leaved twig, with orange-reddish pedicel and leaves. Racemose inflorescence on the lower half of the branch; pink stellate flowers with five elongated petals, and five set of two yellow stamens which protrude beyond the petals. Flowers sit on light green pedicels; buds are round showing pointy sepals. Lower left: dissected view the flower members, including a pink pedicel with sepals, five elongated pink petals with light green bases; compound, green-yellow pistil, and ten stamens with green filaments and orange anthers, alternating short and long. Lower right: fruit berries depicted attached to a woody, nodose, light brown with grey and reddish marks pedicel. One small fruit, dark green; one bigger fruit, light green to yellow. The fruit berry shows deep longitudinal ridges, dividing the berry in six or more slices. On their left: dissected view of the lower half of a fruit berry, showing horizontal star shape of fruit, and internal arrangement of seeds, forming a circle.
