Original inscriptions: 鸟蹄葱 (front lower right in ink); Mat-they (reverse lower right in pencil)

Six erect, cilidric smooth culms, light green, bending down halfway; base of the culms is creamy yellow, some thick pale cream roots visible, with three small, cream coloured nuts, and two large brown nuts with horizontal black lines attached at the end. Lower left: dissected view of the brown nut, with horizontal black lines and black triangular appendage at top; depicted cut horizontally showing internal white flesh. Beneath: dissected flower members, the end of a culm,and a dissection of the tube.
