Inscribed at bottom in English: ‘Taimur’; numbered ‘29’ in Persian inventory note; on reverse: ‘qaimat-i tasvir-i amir timur 50’ (the price of this picture of Timur is 50).
Gouache with gold; on an album page with inner gilt floral border on pale blue and margin of leaf-pattern in gold.
123 by 110 mm; page 453 by 306 mm.
A smudged square seal on the reverse still shows the date 21.
Timur, fully bearded, is seated on a rock, wearing a crested white turban and green coat. His shield and quiver of arrows are slung behind him, his lance and sword across his lap, and a bow at his side. A flowering shrub is on the left.
