Numbered 48 in Persian inventory note.
Tinted drawing with gold; gouache additions of the sky and grass were made at Lucknow, c.1780; on an album page with gilt-decorated blue borders and gilt-sprinkled outer margins.
136 by 70 mm; page 414 by 296 mm.
The Virgin Mary stands in a field holding the Infant Christ in her arms. Each is haloed and Mary is barefoot dressed in full-length robes and a head-veil.
Note: The composition is close to that of an engraving by Jerome Wierix (Flemish, c.1553-1619).
