Inscribed in cartouche above in Persian: ‘tasvir-i husn-i farang’ (picture of a European beauty); numbered 17 in Persian inventory note.
Gouache with gold; on an album page with gilt-decorated blue border and pinkish brown gilt-sprinkled outer margin.
201 by 135 mm; page 406 by 277 mm.
A European courtesan, half-length at a window, is shown nude, with an orange wrap draped loosely about her. A chaplet of leaves retains a light gold veil about her hair and she holds a small wine-cup in her right hand; grey background.
