Numbered 44 in Persian inventory note; inscribed on reverse:’ tasvir-i hazrat-i ibrahim adham’ (a picture of Saint Ibrahim Adham).
Gouache with gold; narrow gold border; applied margin of grey paper.
249 by 175 mm; page 355 by 231 mm.
Sultan Ibrahim is seated in a glade, a green halo about his bead, wearing a blue ‘dhoti’. A party of angels has appeared to bring him food which is spread on a cloth before him and a holy man witnesses the scene from the right foreground.
Note: Ibrahim Adham was the mythical ancestor of the Chisti Sufi order of Ajmer. J.6, 5 is another version of the subject.
