235 by 156 mm; page 441 by 294 mm.
Reverse: a page of ‘nasta‘liq’ calligraphy by Muhammad Murtada; in the centre a quatrain with an illuminated background, and round the edge four panels of smaller script within blue borders; priced in ‘raqam’: 55 rupees.
Sohni swims across the river upon an upturned waterpot to meet her lover Mahinval who sits beneath a tree playing a pipe to his herd of buffaloes. The moon is low on the horizon. In the foreground sits an elderly ascetic smoking a ‘nargila’ beside a fire.
