Inscribed on picture and border in Persian: ‘Amanat Khan’; numbered 36 in Persian inventory note; a short inscription on the reverse has been inked over.
Gouache with gold; on an album page with blue and gilt-sprinkled borders.
214 by 127 mm; page 335 by 223 mm.
Amanat Khan stands in a field holding a jewel in his left hand and a straight sword in his right. He is finely dressed in a purple jama with gold brocade turban and trousers. There are flowers beside him, and a greenish sky with coloured clouds at the top.
Note: Amanat Khan Mirak Muin al-Din Ahmad came of a Herati family and held appointments under Aurangzeb. He died in AH1095/AD1684 (Shah Nawaz Khan (1911-52), I, 221).
