Tinted drawing of a young dervish carrying a spear and a book. Signature of Muhammadi. At his girdle hang a metal bell, a leather pouch, a long straight knife, a wooden ladle and a metal bowl. A scarf is thrown round his shoulders.
Qazwin style: c.1575. 13.5 by 5.5 cm (page 36 by 22.5 cm).
Illuminated panel at the top and a small one at the base, balancing the signature. Patchwork frame of illumination. Pale blue margins with pastoral scenes sketched in gold. On reverse, illuminated ‘nasta‘liq’ calligraphy by Ja‘far al-Husayni, dated 1019/1604.
