Miniature painting illustrating the ‘Yusuf u Zulaykha’ of Jami:: Zulaykha's ladies overcome by the beauty of Yusuf. Scene in a garden with a large ‘iwan’ against a golden hillside. Architectural details are very finely executed, and the figures livelier than usual in this sort of work.
Bukhara style: second half of sixteenth century. 24.5 by 13.5 cm (page 37 by 23.5 cm)
Illuminated frame and plain margins with Waq-waq scrolls in gold. On reverse, illuminated ‘nasta‘liq’ calligraphy by Muhammad Qasim. Plain margins with gold drawings of birds, floral scrolls and arabesque medallions.
