Inscribed on reverse in Persian: ‘‘amal-i mihr chand’ (the work of Mihr Chand); and: ‘‘amal-i rai fateh chand’ (the work of Rai Fath Chand), deleted; numbered 16 in Persian inventory note; beneath, a rhyming couplet in Urdu refering to Krishna.
Gouache with gold; on an album page with outer blue border lavishly decorated with arabesques in two tones of gold.

Visnu rides with his consort Laksmi upon Garuda to come to the rescue of the elephant king who is caught in the jaws of a crocodile. The elephant is holding up a lotus flower in his trunk as an offering to Visnu. The scene takes place near an elephant encampment outside a fortified town.
