Inscribed above in Persian: ‘shabeh-i iraj khan, amal-i Muhammad reza shakrad’(?) [‘shagirad-i?’] ‘nadir zaman’ (a likeness of Iraj Khan, the work of Muhammad Reza ... [pupil of?] Nadir Zaman).
Drawing with gouache; uncoloured paper border with extensions at top and bottom.
150 by 115 mm; page 253 by 168 mm.
Iraj Khan is shown three-quarter length facing right, with his sword and shield at his side, wearing a green and gold turban, and an uncoloured costume; mauve background.
Note: A full-length portrait of Iraj Khan in the same attitude is in the Binney Collection (Binney (1973), no.139b). Compare also with a portrait of Qulich Khan in the Rijksmuseum (Goetz (1958), pl.14).
