Inscribed on reverse in Persian characters: ‘tasvir-i nawab ‘Itimad ud-daula bahadur’ ... (a likeness of Nawab ‘Itimad al-Daula Bahadur ... ).
‘Charba,’ the face tinted with pink; mounted on paper; paper border.
130 by 192 mm; page 225 by 152 mm.
Reverse: a Mughal-style drawing of the head of a dervish.
Nawab ‘Itimad al-Daula Bahadur bearded, dressed in a full-length jama and holding a straight staff, a sword and shield at his side, stands facing right.
Note: Nawab ‘Itimad al-Daula Qamaruddin Khan Bahadur was ‘vazir’ to the emperor Muhammad Shah from 1724 when Nizam al-Mulk Asaf Jah resigned the position. He died in battle in 1748. A contemporary portrait of him is in the manuscript copy of the ‘Karnama-i-ishq’ (Johnson Album 38), f.7v.
