Inscribed at top in Persian: ‘shabeh-i daud khan’ (a likeness of Daud Khan); on reverse: ‘‘amal-i mul chand’ (the work of Mul Chand); Persian inventory note (not numbered).
Drawing with slight colouring; paper extension at right edge.
184 by 105 mm; page 184 by 116 mm.
Daud Khan kneels facing right, holding a pink rose in each hand. His face is thinly bearded and his turban and jama are uncoloured.
Note: The identity is uncertain. Two seventeenth century Mughal officers of this name are described by Shah Nawaz Khan ((1911-52), I, 458-64), and clearly this is not the same man as the Daud Khan of J.25, 6.
