Gouache; outer gilt floral border on blue paper, reinforced at edges.
114 by 57 mm; page 325 by 227 mm.
Reverse: 14 ‘baits of nasta‘liq’ calligraphy from a 17th century Persian manuscript; within two gilt floral borders, the outer one with three birds.
The officer stands facing right, his hands held before him in a submissive attitude, looking slightly upwards. He is dressed in white with a purple turban and gold-decorated ‘patka’; uncoloured background.
