Inscribed in lower left corner in Persian (in same unreliable hand as J.16, 1, and J.18, 11): ‘kar-i usta[d] anant’ (the work of the master Anant); Persian inventory note (not numbered).
Gouache with gold; plain and tinted paper borders.
160 by 94 mm; page 324 by 227 mm.
Reverse: two ‘baits’ of’ nasta‘liq’ calligraphy signed by Muhammad Baqir ibn Mir ‘Ali al-Katib, within tinted paper borders; 17th century.
The courtier, facing left, holds a black ‘chauri’ over his left shoulder and wears a white sixpointed jama and orange turban, yellow trousers and gold-decorated ‘patka’; blue-green background.
