Miniature painting illustrating the ‘Layla wa Majnun’ of Nizami: Majnun offering to ransom the fawn caught in the huntsman's trap.
Tabriz style, mid sixteenth century. 10 by 11cm (page 40.5 by 28 cm).
The miniature has been somewhat trimmed down from its original size and there is very slight discoloration. The work is fine, though not quite first-class. Decorative frame (gold scrolls on dark blue) and gold-flecked margins.
