Head-on view of the sculpture of Ariadne reclining on a tiger, the sculpture is on a rectangular plinth against a black background. Trimmed print laid down on card, image fairly faded. In a letter written on the 18th November 1845 from Constance Talbot to her husband she writes, 'I have touched over the specks in the Ariadne which you mentioned and a few others near the top on the right hand corner which were apparent on some, but not all the copies. This puzzles me - I cannot understand why the copies differ' [The Correspondence of William Henry Fox Talbot, Document no. 5484.]
