View of the intricate stonework carving of the entrance to the cathedral, image border rounded at top corners. One of seven architectural subjects to be included in the 12 November 1858 edition of 'Photographic News'. Photoglyphic engraving from original stereograph by Clouzard and Soulier, slightly uneven from left to right, double-rule border, printed title beneath image, 'Photogyphic. Presented with the Photographic News./ Gate of the Cathedral of Valladolid/ Spain'. Written in pencil along right edge of paper by Eugene Ostroff (Curator of photography at The National Museum of American History and who visited Lacock Abbey in 1965): '119-200', an arrow and 'EO'. Image size 119 x 89 mm, press imprint size 128 x 95 mm, paper size 271 x 202 mm.
