Photoglyphic engraving on steel coated copper plate from an original glass negative by Clouzard and Soulier. Printed title beneath image, 'Photoglyph by Mr Fox Talbot's patent process. Presented with the Photographic News/ The Tuileries'. Also published in the 16 September 1859 edition of 'Photographic News'. Handwritten in pencil in top right corner by Eugene Ostroff (Curator of photography at The National Museum of American History and who visited Lacock Abbey in 1965): 'see 271 + 274 275', an encircled 'EO' and in different hand '2200 Pointele JB'. Image size 150 x 165 mm, press imprint size 189 x 253 mm, paper size 206 x 262 mm.
