A lithograph of Louis Philippe standing in a classroom with one finger pointing to globe and with the other hand pointing to a scroll of paper. Two boys listen intently while boys at a table behind listen to an older man. The lithograph was presented with the Atlas Newspaper on 29th August 1830 and underneath the picture is written 'From a Picture by David, painted by order of H.S.H. the Duke d'Orléans, now Louis Phillipe 1st King of the French - The Principal Figure represents the Duke in his capacity/ of Teacher, during the period of his exile from France - The Pupils are portraits of his own Children - The full description will be found in the Atlas Newspaper with which this Engraving is presented'. Lithographed and printed by G.E. Madeley, Wellington Street Strand.
