Comments an the attacks being made in Parliament on the Persian war and the prospects of peace. Canning may send a Minute upon the proposed Afghan expedition, but the writer hopes it will not be such that the Court can use it against the Government. Sykes and Hogg are attacking the war. Is trying for a reward for Stalker; Leeke is being complained of. Gladstone and Disraeli have become reconciled, but the only political danger is Palmerston's Government. Comments on the political situation at home; and on Canning's criticised declaration of war. Is glad the Penal Code has taken a substantial form. He fears Canning's appeal about the Court's bills will be in vain. The happenings in China are more popular than those in Persia. A Regiment is to be sent to India to relieve one there, Canning may keep both if necessary. Hopes Jackson will be removed from Oudh. Congratulates Canning on Dunkellin's conduct at Bushire, which will make up for the unpleasantness at Calcutta. Clanricarde has given notice of a grand motion against the unsuitable form of Indian Government
