Comments on drafts of recruits being sent to India, and hopes to be able to supply the 24,000 asked for during the year. A Committee has been appointed in England, to do pretty much the work which was committed to the Government of India. The letter about the reorganization of the Engineers and Artillery has been delayed by the Board, in spite of the Court's protests, and may not be passed until the general reorganization of the Indian Army is determined. Asks for the Governor General's opinion on the proposed abolition of the two remaining Native Cavalry Regiments. Lord Stanley and others have heard great complaints of the dwarf Light Cavalry being neglected. The India Bill is getting on at last. A Despatch has been sent about the future of Dhar; the Court would like to see Dhar and Umjheera given to Bolkar, Jhansi to Scindia, and Shorapore to the Nizam.
