Sends a copy via Bombay of a letter he wrote to Canning by the last Calcutta mail. Sidney Herbert wishes Canning to send home European regiments as soon as he can, depending upon the state of India. Wood is afraid of the state of relations with Nepal. Sends a memorandum about a little girl said to be in Nana Sahib's power, so that Canning can see whether anything can be done to get her away. The Rajah of Coorg's executors have revived a suit in Chancery for the recovery of some £190,000 claimed as private property. Any arrangement made for his family must depend somewhat on the result of this suit. Lady Granville is better.
