Has enjoyed his Tour, and is charmed by Canara, which seems more alive than any where else. Sedashegar would make an excellent harbour, with 40 miles of navigable river. Describes some of the sights of the Tour. Haig's report on the Godavery is printed at last, and Harris hopes Canning has received a copy. Harris suggests that a start be made by adopting the plan proposed in Haig's letter of 24 Jun. Something will have to be done to keep the people in order, the Zemindars are all opposed to the Navigation, because it will stop their plunder. A small body of Irregulars would be best, asks for Captain Wyndham. Tanjore looks troublesome, Harris hears that Norton is now going to Mysore to try to cause trouble there.
