Harris is afraid that Canning will be annoyed and disgusted with the attacks on him in England, especially in the debate in the House of Lords. Sends his sympathy. Mentions Mr H Kime, a Civilian in the North West Provinces, a distant cousin, an Lieutenant Gunning, 37th Madras Native Infantry. Lady Canning is expected on the 30th, and will probably start on the 3rd. All is quiet in Madras, though there is a good deal of stir amongst the Mahomedans, and the Rajah of Mysore's troops are supposed to be disaffected and may be disarmed. Asks Canning to let him know how he is.
