Has little to add about the troops for China. Praises Sir Patrick Grant. The Madras native troops have so much foreign service in Burma, that a call for service in China will not be popular amongst them. Praises Canning's actions in Upper India. Comments on the monuments of Mahommedan art at Agra and Delhi. At both these places there are specimens of Florentine Pietra Dura carried out by native workmen who were taught by six Italians originally sent out from Florence by Lorenzo di Medici. Asks Canning to consider the case of Fuzl-i-Hukh, whom Trevelyan had known long ago, and who has now been transported to the Andamans. There has been plentiful rain in Madras.
