Has sent Canning's message about sending the Pottinger to Tuticorin to Sir Henry Leeke by Lord Dunkellin. Describes the arrangements made to provide warm clothing for the troops. The Court have been asked for supplies of compressed vegetables and preserved potatoes. A large quantity of vegetable seeds have been sent with the troops. The framework of the Field Hospital, consisting of 15 detached bungalows, has already been despatched. Describes the small steamers for the Karoon, and their armaments. The officers all seemed in high spirits, but it was not known whether they were to advance or remain stationary at Bushire. Elphinstone had no intention of passing over the Supreme Government in the General Order of 20 Oct, he will explain the omission in his next letter.
