Expresses surprise that Ferookh Khan signed the Treaty in Paris, though it is probably more favourable than the Shah had any right to expect. Arrangements have been made to send off Sir James Outram's Despatches, and to bring back the Madras Fusiliers and the 25th Native Infantry now on their way to Bushire. Unfortunately there was no Government steamer to send, and a small steamer has been chartered. The Government of Bombay was also asked to send a steamer to Suez, to carry the Envoy Plenipotentiary who is to be sent to China, and Outram has been asked to provide this. Captain Wellesley is to succeed Sir Henry Leeke in the command of the Indian Navy.
