Forwards Despatches [not enclosed] which came by the 'Feroze' with a wing of the 23rd Native Infantry. Colonel Taylor arrived at Herat on 11 Oct and was received with the greatest respect. Murray's position at Teheran seems to be improved, but Captain Jones says he is treated coldly by the authorities at Bushire. Captain Kemball has arranged to obtain horses from Baghdad. Sir George Grey is sending horses. Orders have been sent to Galle to forward two regiments to Calcutta. Elphinstone has delayed writing to Canning because letters to Calcutta could only be sent via Hyderabad and Masulipatam.
