The map is of Tehran and the surrounding parts of north west Persia on the south coast of the Caspian Sea. It shows human settlements, administrative zones, topographical features, agricultural products, and roads. Beneath the main map are two smaller maps, one showing the areas surveyed by the Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force, the other ethnographical divisions.
The map includes a printing statement that reads 'Simla Drawing Office. No. 3090, Feb. 1922. Reg. No. 2287 E 22-400'. The map was heliozincographed at the Survey of India Offices, Calcutta.
