A collection of sermons; Robert of Basevorn, Forma predicandi; Isidore of Seville, Synonyma de lamentatione animae peccatricis (excerpt)
- Scope & Content:
-
Formerly bound in a different order. This part was originally prefaced by Robert of Basevorn (fl. 14th century), Forma predicandi (Form of Preaching).
Contents:
ff. 191r-255v: A collection of sermons in several hands. The original order of this collection is given at the end in a list of contents (f. 261v) written by a later hand and showing 42 sermon themes corresponding to 50 sermons. It was originally prefaced by the Forma predicandi of Robert of Basevorn, whose work was written by 1322. The sermons are in random order and written by several hands. They have been probably added to the Form of Preaching as examples to the treatise.
ff. 256r-260v: Robert of Basevorn, Forma predicandi, imperfect. It is preceded by a table of contents specifying the title of the 50 chapters (ff. 256r-v), the beginning of the prologue is lacking and it contains only 20 chapters instead of 50 chapters.
f. 261r: Isidore of Seville (b. c 560, d. 636), Synonyma de lamentatione animae peccatricis (Synonyms on the Lamentation of the Sinful Soul), imperfect, includes the prologue and the beginning of the first book, ending: 'Testium falsa sententia ad necem innocens ducor'.
f. 262v: Part of a sermon.
