Copy of a letter from Stephen Babington, in charge of the Residency at Bushire, to the British Government of India’s Envoy to Persia [Iran], Brigadier-General Sir John Malcolm, of 29 July 1810. The letter gives an account of the apprehension of Jean Robbio, a French courier who arrived at Bushire on a ship from Muscat, and the seizure of letters in his possession from the Isle of France [Mauritius], which were originally enclosed with this letter (see IOR/G/29/32, ff 329-330 and 333-336).
The letter was enclosed in HM Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Persia, Sir Harford Jones’s Dispatch No. 23, which was received on 6 February 1811.
