A memorial by Captain Isaac Hart, of the 65th Regiment of Foot, in Tabreez [Tabriz], to the Court of Directors of the East India Company, of 10 February 1827. In the memorial, Captain Hart requests that he be awarded the ‘same indulgence as granted to all other officers similarly situated in Persia’, indicating that he has received arrears of pay since December 1819, while the other officers have received arrears of pay since September 1813. He indicates that he entered the service at the same time as the other officers, and refers to the recommendations of the Prince Royal [Crown Prince of Persia, 'Abbās Mīrzā Qājār] on his behalf as proof that the services rendered by him to the Persian Government are of no less importance than those of the other officers.
This document was originally enclosed in the letter of the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 12 February 1827 (IOR/L/PS/9/70/188).
