Translations of letters from Noskoff [Ivan Fyodorovich Noskov], a Russian officer who delivered a gift of a glass couch to the Shah of Persia [Iran], and the Persian envoy, Mirza Mohomed Alli [Mīrzā Muḥammad ʿAlī Khān Shirāzī], to the East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, of February 1827. The letters report the arrival of Noskoff and Mirza Mohomed Alli at the Russo-Persian frontier, their reception at the border, and their communications with the local Chief of the Kozzaks [Cossacks], Asslan Beg.
These documents were originally enclosed, numbered 3 and 4 in No. 40, in Macdonald Kinneir’s letter to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 23 March 1827 (IOR/L/PS/9/70/192).
