- Letter from the former HM Chargé d'Affaires to Persia [Iran], Henry Willock, in St Petersburgh [St Petersburg], to the Secretary to the East India Company, Joseph Dart, of 10 March 1828, which was received on 25 April 1828. Originally enclosed were copies of two dispatches from Edward Cromwell Disbrowe, of the British diplomatic mission to Russia, to the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, the Earl of Dudley (now catalogued as IOR/L/PS/9/71/196-197). Willock reports the positive reception he has received from the Emperor of Russia, Nicolas [Nicholas I], and the Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Count [Karl Robert] Nesselrode, and indicates that Disbrowe has stated that his visit to St Petersburgh has been ‘decidedly useful’. He also reports his imminent departure for Persia, stating that his departure had been deferred at the expressed desire of the Emperor.
