The map shows the Tigris-Euphrates delta indicating the proposed routes of a number of railway lines. The map also indicates the course of the Tigris, Euphrates and Karun rivers as well as water management features such as the proposed 'Feluja Barrage' and 'proposed head regulator for the Habbania Escape'.
The map lists approximate distances (in kilometres and miles) between different settlements by possible railways (e.g. 'Baghdad to Basra via Kerbela and Najaf') and also the approximate distances by river, on either the Euphrates (e.g. 'Hit to Faluja') or the Tigris (e.g. 'Baghdad to Basra').
