General map of the Persian Gulf and surrounding territories, including Southern Arabistan, Kuwait, the Province of Hasa, part of Nejd, Bahrain and Qatar (not marked). The map includes major places, and gives some indication of relief.
The map was sent by the Kuwait Oil Company to the India Office on 14 January 1935 (IOR/L/PS/12/3812, folio 40) and was one of two maps used by the company's negotiators in connection with the Kuwait oil concession. The negotiations resulted in the signing of the commercial agreement of 23 December 1934 between the company and the Shaikh of Kuwait. The other map, a large scale map of Kuwait (IOR/L/PS/12/3812, folio 58) has been catalogued as part of the previous file in this series (IOR/L/PS/12/3811, f 410).
