- Scope & Content:
- Sketch map of northeast Iran, indicating the border between Persia and Iraq Command (PAIC) and India Command during the Second World War. The border between the two Commands is drawn and annotated in blue pencil. International frontiers (between Persia [Iran], Russia, Afghanistan and Baluchistan) are marked in red ink. Key towns and cities (Tehran, Meshed [Mashhad], Birjand, Qain [Qā’en] and Zahidan) are marked in black ink, along with the transport routes (road and rail) between them. The purpose of the map in the enclosing file is not entirely clear, but probably refers to the geographical scope of the Indian Long Range Squadron, mentioned in a letter from the External Affairs Department of the Government of India on folio 55 of the enclosing file.
