- File includes a Schedule of Accounts paid by Dr Forbes Watson for investigations into the nutritive value of the grains of India and of food substances in general commenced under the special authority of the (late) Court of Directors of the East India Company between 1st March 1857 and March 1859; a Memorandum by Sir T Seccombe, dated 20th April 1880, on the outstanding accounts of Dr J Forbes Watson, together with a paper on recommendations of the Statistics and Commerce Committee on Sir T Seccombe’s memorandum (subjects contained in the memorandum by Sir T Seccombe include: Investigations as to the nutritive value of the Grains of India and of Food substances in general; the People of India; Cotton Gin Experiments; Textile Manufacturers of India; Machines for Husking and Cleaning Rice; the Bullock Machine). In addition, the file includes an estimate by the Lecturer on Chemistry at St. Bartholomews Hospital, dated 13th December 1856, on analysis proposed by Dr Forbes Watson
