The ten folios consist of a note explaining that the enclosures to Letters Nos. 4-8 are not included in the volume, together with an abstract of the contents of the missing enclosures. The missing enclosures concern the following subjects:
The relative advantages of different modes of communication with India, including a minute by Governor-General George Eden, Lord Auckland, supported by the Members of the Council, and submission of an opinion on the importance of establishing punctual and rapid communications between England and India by means of steam vessels; the documents relating to the alleged conspiracy at Satara, the petition of Girjabai, mother of Govind Rao, Dewan of the Raja of Satara Pratap Singh Bhosle, currently a state prisoner at Pune, the enquiry into communications alleged to have taken place between Pratap Singh and the ruler of Mysore Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar III, and the measures to be taken regarding the conspiracy; the death of the King of Oudh Nasir al-Din Haydar Shah Nishapuri, the Queen Mother Padshah Begum's attempt to seize power for her godson Munna Jan, the accession of Nasir al-Dawla Amjad ‘Ali Shah Nishapuri, and the opinion of the Governor-General and Council on the Resident in Lucknow Colonel John Low's admittance of the claims of Amjad ‘Ali Shah and subsequent ratification of the deed of engagement.
