The map illustrates a paper concerning a visit by to the hot springs of Bosher [Bawshar] near Muscat (referred to in the map as 'Muskat') by Lieutenant Arthur William Stiffe of Her Majesty's Indian Navy (HMIN), which was read before the Bombay Geographical Society on 19 April 1860 (pages 123-127).
The map shows settlements, coastline, cultivated ground, aqueducts, the route to, and location of, the hot springs, passes, and elevation in feet. There is a key in the bottom right hand corner of the map.
Inscribed: 'Copied by R Rozario', and 'lith [lithographed] B.E.S. [Bombay Education Society] Press.'.
Scale: seven nautical or geographical miles = 108mm.
