Enclosures nos. 2-4 to a dispatch from the Secret Department, Bombay Castle, dated 23 May 1839. The enclosures are dated 1 January-1 March 1839.
The enclosures contain competing claims from three officers, Lieutenant-Colonels P Cameron and George Woodfall, and Major J Rawlinson, to be appointed second-in-command of the British Detachment in Persia. The requests are forwarded by the Commander, British Detachment in Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel Benjamin Shee, with a request for the Government of India to institute a fixed rule for filling such positions.
