The above texts are part of a group of works known as 'the Katherine group', also found in Oxford, Bodleian Library Bodley 34 and London, British Library Cotton Titus D XVIII . They are copied in the same West-Midlands dialect as the Bodley and Cotton manuscripts and Cambridge, Corpus Christi College 401, which contains the Ancrene Wisse (identified as the AB language by J.R.R. Tolkien, 'Ancrene Wisse and Hali Meiðhad', Essays and Studies by Members of the English Association, 14 (1929), 104–26).
Decoration:
Framed initials in red on a green ground with pen-flourishing in red and green at the beginning of the first three texts. Numerous initials in red or green, some with pen-flourishing in the other colour.

A scribal colophon with the name 'Johan' at the end of the first text (f. 10v): 'Par seinte charite biddeð a pater noster for Iohan þat þeos boc wrat. Hwa se þis writ haueð ired. Ant crist him haveð swa isped. Ich bidde p[er] seinte charite. Þet se bidden ofte forme. A pater noster ant ave marie. Þet ich mote þaet lif hersprehen. Ant ure laverd wel icwemen. In mi juhe[re]de 7 in min elde. Þet ich mote jesu crist mi sawle gelden. Amen'.
