This item consists of copies of correspondence, consultations, memoranda, resolutions, and minutes cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay [Mumbai]. The correspondents are: the Government of Bombay; Captain Samuel Hennell, British Resident in the Persian Gulf; and Hajee Jassim [Ḥājī Jāsim], British Agent at Bahrein [Bahrain]. The item concerns the alliance between Humud bin Mujudel [Ḥamad bin Majdal], Chief of the Amaieer [al-‘Amāyir] Tribe and Mahomed bin Khuleefa [Shaikh Muḥammed bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah, Shaikh of Bahrain], and Mahomed bin Khuleefa’s hostility towards the Wahabees [Wahhābi].
