The item consists of copies and extracts of correspondence, memoranda, and minutes cited in, or enclosed with, extracts from a Government of Bombay Political Consultation, 17 December 1846.
The item relates to a request by Mahomed Hussain Khan [Muḥammad Ḥusayn Khān, also rendered in text as Mahomed Husson Khan] for passage on a steamer going from Bombay [Mumbai] to the Persian Gulf. As well as the request, the item contains a memorandum by the Political [Department] Secretary which provides background information on Mahomed Hussain Khan and his previous correspondence with the Government of Bombay on numerous topics, including a debt owed by a Bombay resident referred to as Khoja Tela [Khwājah Tilā(?)]. The memorandum also references other individuals who have requested passage from the Government of Bombay, including details of their requests and whether their requests were approved or declined.
The item also includes the outcome of Mahomed Hussain Khan’s request.
