The item consists of copies and extracts of correspondence, minutes, and resolutions cited in, or enclosed with, extracts from a Government of Bombay Political Letter to the East India Company Court of Directors, dated 31 August 1849.
The item concerns the question of whether the Company should continue to pay, to his family, the pension of the late Meerza Abul Hussun Khan Sheerazee [Mīrzā Abūl Ḥusayn Khān Shīrāzī], Minister for Foreign Affairs to the Shah of Persia [Iran]. The issue is raised with the India Board [Board of Commissioners for the Affairs of India] and Henry John Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. The deceased’s assets, unpaid salary, and previously overpaid pension payments are also discussed.
